The lists do not include Whitman puzzles from the depression period (1932 - 1935) such as Adult, Five Star, Gold Seal (No-Picture Box), Jig Picture 200 piece, Jig Picture 300 piece, Silver Seal, Sterling and the puzzles with Stencil Shapes printed on the box (no Brand Name). These puzzles are still being studied.

On the following brands, the number shown after the Brand Name is the Stock Number:
20th Century, Blue Ribbon, Corker, Currier & Ives, De Luxe, Fighters for Freedom, Wood - Tekwood and Zane Grey. Otherwise, on Crown, Gold Seal, Guild and Masterpiece, the numbers after the Brand Name are made up of the number of pieces shown on the box, followed by the Series Number. For example, Gold Seal 500-512 is a 500 piece puzzle in Series 512 and Guild 304-TT is a 304 piece puzzle from Series TT. This procedure was used to aid in organizing these Brands chronologically by dates of release.

The eight Fighters for Freedom puzzles with the double pictures have no Titles on the box. Titles were created for each of them in order to tell one from the other. Many of the puzzle illustrations used for Fighters for Freedom also appeared in a series of picture books published by Whitman, starting around 1941, such as "Warplanes in Action", and Titles for the matching puzzles were derived from the written descriptions found in the books.

There are five puzzles in the listings that are marked "(unknown)". For these, Titles have not been identified as yet. There are 2 puzzles in Crown Series 712 and 3 puzzles in the Masterpiece 3964 puzzles without a Series Number. As the Titles are found, they will be added to the listings until all are accounted for.

We welcome your questions, comments and suggestions.
